Let me say this: I love me some Strand Study Bible! When I decided to make my Bible Study to the next level, I realized that I needed a good study Bible with lots of "stuff" (notes, maps, charts, etc.). Enter Half Price Books. They had several seemingly brand new copies of the Strand Study Bible for $20. I opened one of them to peruse it and instantly knew it was the one for me. This Bible has great notes, maps and "stuff". At first I thought it was unfortunate that it was a KJV (I'm an NIV gal at heart). But I have found the KJV to be a wonderful addition to my NIV.
The Strand offers a lot of commentary and theology as well. Since it's written from a Protestant point of view, I'm fine with that. Just know that going in if you are not Protestant.
I highly recommend the Strand and use it often in my study.
